The Planetary Studies Foundation is a non-profit science education organization located in Crystal Lake, a suburb in the Chicago area. Our mission is to promote the study of planetary science and astronomy, with emphasis on meteorites, and to sponsor, encourage and assist in the physical, astronomical, earth and environmental sciences so as to broaden our knowledge of all phases of the universe. Founded in 1989 by Professor Paul Sipiera, the Planetary Studies Foundation has achieved many impressive accomplishments in the past 15 years, such as becoming a leader in Polar and Antarctic exploration and research, being the holder of the 10th largest meteorite collection in the world, and also being a respected educational presence in the community. We sponsor community sky viewing events several times a year and have many activities geared toward our members, which currently are close to 200.
